2008 TurboTV Launch
TurboTV will return to the Manawatu Rugby Union Website this week with a new level of insight to the workings of the Turbos and the union through a weekly broadcast that will include items like pre and post player and coach interviews that can be downloaded through the Unions website at: www.manawaturugby.co.nz (CLICK HERE)
The introduction of TurboTV, created by software developers EFX Group and Massey University, was one of the great successes to come out of the 2007 Turbos Air New Zealand Cup season. With weekly uploading of visual and verbal post game reports from Turbos Coach Dave Rennie, Captain Josh Bradnock that were bundled along with player and fan interviews TurboTV netted a huge following with up to 13,000 hits per week with supporters looking for real stories from the Turbos.
Manawatu Rugby Union CEO - Hadyn Smith, was initially intrigued by the interest from the fans but soon realized that the interest in the site wasn't just a one week wonder.
"The hits just kept on coming and when you added items like Dave Rennie's Coaches Comment you could see why the interest continued to build. For a provincial union to have such a medium has been quite a buzz for both the Turbos and their supporters,"said Mr Smith.
The plan is to ensure that more pre and post game information is added this year along with some updates from the Union around topical issues such as the Air NZ Cup season event plans and the 2008 NZRU Competitions Review that is topical. TurboTV will open with an interview from the MRU CEO and will follow with a look at the new Turbos training centre and comments from Dave Rennie and some of the Manawatu Under 20 players when they return from the New Zealand Under 20 World Cup campaign in Wales.
Archive footage from the 2007 season will remain on line.
