Colts Grades 2010

Colts teams have now been allocated to the Premier and 'A' grades and the draws for the first rounds completed.

SUBSTITUTION LAWS

In the Colts Premier grade, substitution laws as in accordance with the IRB Laws of the game.

In the Colts A grade, the following local law variations apply:

1. A team is permitted up to 10 interchanges per match, from any number of substitutes up to a maximum of 10 substitutes
2. Any player may take the field twice
3. A front row player may take the field on a third occasion, if necessary, in the event of an injury to a front row player
4. All players must be named on the team card
5. An interchange can only be made during a stoppage in play, by informing the referee

These rules rely on honest and accurate application and recording by each team's management. Referee's will not record the number of interchanges completed. The MRU recommends a pre-match discussion between each team's management and the match referee as to how each team will manage the interchanges - for the clarity of all parties.

RECLASSIFICATION OF OVER AGE PLAYERS

Clubs may apply to the MRU for the reclassification of players over the age of 21 on 1st January 2010 to play in the Colts Grades.

Applications are to be made to the MRU in accordance with the Club Compeition By-Law paragraph 22:

On application to the Union, dispensation may be sought to classify players in an age grade side if they are over the required age on 1st January of that season. In general terms, teams may be granted up to 3 reclassifications although this may be increased at the discretion of the Union. Such reclassifications should be applied for to the MRU no later than 48hrs prior to an overage player taking the field in a competition fixture. The Union will consider any applications made after this time with regards to newly registered players.

The deadline for applications for players to participate in Week 1 of the MRU Club Competition is 1:00pm Thursday 25th March.
