Team Entries 2012

The MRU now calls for team entries into the following Club competitions: Colts, Senior Reserve, Presidents and Women. Submit this form by the closing date of 23rd March 2012.

Reclassification of age grade players

Clubs may apply to the MRU for players to be reclassified to play in the Colts competition where they are over the age limit (Under 21 on 1st January 2012). A reclassification may be granted on the basis of ability, medical or size/weight grounds. Reclassifications should not be seen as a means to simply increase playing numbers in the Colts grade.

In general terms clubs may be granted up to 3 reclassifications although this may be increased at the discretion of the MRU. Click Here for the form. In some cases temporary reclassification may be granted pending observation of that player.

Please ensure you read Paragraph 22 of the MRU Club Competition By-Laws

Player Transfers

There has been a change to the By-laws regarding transfer of players from one MRU club to another between seasons (ie from 2011 to 2012). No transfer form is required to be completed. The player is considered to be a free agent and can simply sign up with the new club.

Once the season has commenced (24 March 2012 for Senior 1 & 2, 14 April 2012 for all other grades) then a player wishing to transfer clubs must complete the NZRU online transfer system.

The player's old club may decline to sign off the transfer only when that player has not paid his club membership or has not returned playing gear loaned. In this case the old club must advise the new club of this immediately so the issue can be resolved with the player.

If both clubs agree on the transfer then the two-week stand down period will be waived.

Please ensure you read Paragraph 17 of the MRU Club Competition By-Laws

International Player Clearances

Players who wish to play in the 2012 Club Competition and who have played overseas in the past 12 months must be cleared back into New Zealand - Click here for the required form.

Please ensure you read Paragraph 16 of the MRU Club Competition By-Laws
