MRU announces Head Coach role
The Manawatu Rugby Union is pleased to announce that Paul Claridge will be the Manawatu men's sevens head coach and he will be assisted by Charles Aliva.
The MRU, in conjunction with the New Zealand Rugby Union, interviewed candidates last week and confirmed the two coaches' appointments.
Claridge has been associated with the Manawatu sevens team for a number of years, while Aliva has previously had experience in coaching the Horowhenua-Kapiti men's sevens team.
The announcement is the first step towards developing a greater emphasis on sevens rugby in Manawatu. Over the coming weeks the Union will begin development of a sevens strategy which will encompass both the men's and women's representative teams as well as growth at junior and senior levels.
The Union is currently undertaking a selection process for the Manawatu women's seven head coach role and expects to name the successful candidate next week.
