College Old Boys completes the triple-crown

College Old Boys proved unstoppable on their way to winning the Hankins Shield with a 34-20 victory over Varsity in the Tony's Tyre Service Senior 1 club rugby competition at FMG Stadium on Saturday.
The win means College Old Boys remain unbeaten for the season and hold all three Senior 1 trophies - the Hankins Shield (competition winners), Centennial Shield (second round winners), and the Jubilee Cup (first round winners).
College Old Boys 34 (H Gosling, T Cama, W Paia'aua, D Walker, C Baker tries; T Came 3 cons, 1pen), Varsity 20 (C Stewart, K Tufuga, C Gibbins tries; C Stewart pen, con), HT: 15-3 COB.
In the other Senior 1 final, Old Boys Marist repelled the challenge of Feilding Old Boys Oroua to win the Val Holland Memorial Trophy by 36-15.
In a scintillating match in the Senior 2 final Massey Rams and Feilding Old Boys Oroua had to endure double overtime before the Rams came out on top. The match was locked at 22-all after 80 minutes and it remained all locked up after a further two ten minute periods of extra time. It took a try several minutes into sudden death to see Rams home 27-22.
