Manawatu U12 vs South Taranaki Recap
On Sunday the 28th of July 2019 the Manawatu U12 rep rugby team traveled to Hawera to play the Ross Brown South Taranaki team at the TSB Hub. It was a stunning day with a light breeze blowing off the mountain and the field was in fantastic condition for running rugby. As the first game for the season, it was an excellent opportunity to see how the team gelled. The game started a bit messy as both teams were trying to find some rhythm, with the Manawatu forwards working South Taranaki to the ground providing nice clean ball for the backs to attack from. Although defensively we scrambled, it was pleasing to see that the boys didn't give up and contested every aspect of the game, which was shown in the zero points being scored against us. Even though the scoreline was a blow out, there is still plenty for the team to work on going forward and the coaches will continue to grow and develop them. The final score was 58-0 to Manawatu. Player of the day was Bailey Ngatai-Cribb.
