Vacancy: Assistant Coach (Cyclones)

Vacancy: Assistant Coach (Cyclones)

We have an exciting opportunity to join and contribute to Manawatū Rugby's performance programme as an assistant coach.

The role involves working with the MRU's performance athletes with a focus on the Cyclones programme.

It is a fixed-term, part-term paid position for the duration of the FPC campaign (July-October). But the successful applicant would ideally commit, in a voluntary capacity, to the performance programme from appointment through to the commencement of the squad assembly in July.

The assistant coach will specialise on forwards and set piece.

Applicants should have experience coaching women. Preferrably the applicant will have experience at provincial level and be a level 2 qualifies coach, but that is not a requirement for the position.

Key Purpose:

The Assistant Coach, working in conjunction with the Performance Manager and Head Coach, will ensure the development of sound operational plans and programmes to provide for the development of players and coaches at representative level. As a significant part of this role, the Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in selecting and coaching the NPC/FPC teams.

To provide support for Manawatū Rugby Union operations and be an active member of the Performance Rugby Team.

About MRU:

The Manawatū Rugby Union's purpose is to lead, grow and support rugby in Manawatū. That includes the 5500 community participants in our region each year along with our representative programmes and our two flagship teams the Cyclones and the Turbos.

The three major priorities for MRU are:

  1. One Team, One Whanau - We are Manawatū Rugby, we have 5,550 community rugby players and two performance teams in the Cyclones and Turbos, all of which we are incredibly proud of.
  1. Community Connections - We are proud to wear the MRU crest and put mana in the jersey, we are part of this amazing province and we give back to our community who generously support us.
  1. On-Off Field Winning - We are more than rugby. We have the opportunity to support and provide leadership in our community and impact people’s lives for the better.
