Manawatu U12 Match Report vs Horowhenua Kapiti U12

Manawatu U12 Match Report vs Horowhenua Kapiti U12

On Sunday the 1st of September 2019 the Manawatu U12 rep rugby team, along with the Manawatu U11 and U13 teams, travelled to Otaki to play the Horowhenua/Kapiti rep teams.  The games were played on the three Rahui Rugby Club fields at the same time of 10:30am.  Otaki turned on the weather with crystal clear skies and excellent fields for all teams to play on.

Horowhenua/Kapiti definitely represented the toughest competition we have had over the rep season with some extremely big boys and a skill level that we hadn't seen in previous competitors.  However, this didn't phase the team, they just adjusted their playing style to pack tackle the larger players and utilised the stepping and kicking skills of some of our backs to get around their players.  Again we saw some outstanding metres gained by our forwards as they broke the line and were able to offload to backs to make big gains up the field, finishing with another convincing victory.

The final score was 54-14 to Manawatu.  Player of the day was Tyrese Tane.

Tries: Alani Fakava (3), Jamie Viljoen, Tyrese Tane, Hunter Kennedy, Kisione Ma'asi, Dreshaun Cook-Nelio

Conversions: Bailey Ngatai-Cribb (5), Tyrese Tane, Jamie Viljoen
