Maraku named in New Zealand Secondary Schools team

Feilding High School and Manawatu Academy centre Josiah Maraku has been named in the 2019 New Zealand Secondary Schools squad.

Maraku, who played for the New Zealand Schools Barbarians in 2017, was part of a 26-player squad who will contest matches against Tonga Schools, Australia Schools Barbarians and Australia Schools.

Maruku has been a key member of the Feilding High School First XV for the past four years.

His pace and deceptive strength have made him a standout at schoolbpoy level and was a key reason he was signed to the Manawatu Academy squad at the end of last season.

Palmerston North Boys' High School first five-eighth Stewart Cruden was picked in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Barbarians side.

The Barbarians play the New Zealand Under 18 Maori and Fiji Schools.

Boys' High teammate Reuben Love was selected in the New Zealand Maori Under 18s along with Hato Paora's Nikora Broughton.
