Manawatu U12 vs Wairarapa Bush U12 Match Report

Manawatu U12 vs Wairarapa Bush U12 Match Report

On Sunday the 25th of August 2019 the Manawatu U12 rep rugby team faced the Wairarapa Bush U12 team at Ongley Park in Palmerston North.  Although the sun was shining it was a bitterly cold and windy day which had a significant impact on the kicking game for both teams.

From the get go our Manawatu team dominated on the field  with impressive set plays and some individual tries that showed off some of the talent in the team.  At half time with a scoreboard that was blowing out in favour of Manawatu 50 to 0, the coaching team decided to manage the blow out to try and even things up for a more enjoyable game for both sides.  The Manawatu players were instructed to always kick off to give Wairarapa more possession, to stop contesting at the rucks and some key play makers were substituted.  This gave Wairarapa an opportunity to score, however Manawatu fought back hard and pushed to another level and finished the game with an overwhelming victory.

The final score was 90-7 to Manawatu.  Player of the day was Alani Fakava.

Tries: Alani Fakava (4), OShay Maxwell (2), Santino Pekepo-Tevaga (2), Oscar Jacob, Jamie Viljoen, Tyrese Tane, Hunter Kennedy, Charlie Ferguson and Thomas Inder

Conversions: Bailey Ngatai-Cribb (5), Tyrese Tane (3), Ryder Crosswell (2)
